Hi, I’m Steve Milford.
My journey to becoming a Mortgage Loan Officer started with hands-on experience in the real estate world.
Let’s rewind a bit.
I started my journey as a Realtor in 2015. I loved helping clients find homes and negotiating those deals—but something always felt off. I realized I was joining my Buyer's journey too late. They’d already been pre-approved, and as I talked with them, I noticed a troubling pattern: many were misinformed or completely unaware of the full range of options available to them.
I wasn’t a mortgage expert at the time, but after building so many creative deals, I knew there was more out there than what most people were being told.
I kept wondering—what about the people who didn’t get approved right away? What happened to them? Too often, lenders would offer help... but rarely follow through.
It was frustrating. I found myself not only helping clients find homes but also stepping in to help them find a new lender or push for new loan products. I was doing both jobs.
That’s when I decided that something had to change.
I didn’t know exactly how, but I started asking questions—lots of them. I spoke to around 100 people in the industry. And only two genuinely offered to help me understand how to get started. I was stunned.
So, I then I decided to become the kind of professional who’s willing to help anyone who’s willing to try. Truly help with education first!
I’ve met so many people who told me, “I was told no, and then never heard anything again.” That’s not how it should be.
My job, as I see it, is to educate and empower people—so they can make informed decisions about one of the biggest purchases of their lives. Not just based on one option, but with all the possibilities on the table.
There are so many paths—retail versus wholesale, single-option versus multi-solution strategies—and my role is to shine a light on all of them.
Today, I help clients by providing education, clear communication, and real choices.
To be the best I could, first, I made sure I understood mortgages so well that I could explain them like the back of my hand. Then, I started working with clients—real people—walking them through each step, showing them how to find the best path forward.
From my very first loan to every one since, I’ve stayed committed to that mission.
If you’re ready to explore your options, give me a call. I’m here to help.

As a side note, I still have my real estate license and use it when requested or referred, but I rarely advertise for new business. If you want to view more information about these services, see www.stevemilfordrealtor.com
